BenchValue project (http://benchvalue.efi.int/) partners met for a 2-day project meeting, during which we made some more progress on the benchmarking method development to make the A1-A5 stages of timber, cement and steel production more uniform and transparent. We also looked into detail in the impressive progress of the case studies in Lithuania, France, Austria and Ireland.

 

The stakeholder day on the topic of “Lithuanian Bioeconomy and the Role of Wood Construction” was well visited with over 40 participants from industry (Jures Medis and Stora Enso), policy and research with very enlightening discussion on the role of wood construction in the Lithuanian bioeconomy. During the interactive Ketso stakeholder interaction in three groups, participants extensively discussed the current strengths, future opportunities, current challenges and possible solutions, as well as goals with precise courses of action to support wood construction in Lithuania. The day was rounded off with an excursion to the Jures Medis GluLam manufacturing plan, which with close to 30000 m³/year is one of the biggest and most versatile o fit’s kind in Europe.
